“Dr. and Mrs. Midelfort’s home, before they moved to 343 GIlbert Ave, in 1902. Picture taken in 1900 or 1901 before or after their trip to Norway to visit his relatives. This interior is in the house then known as the “Gilbert House”, now a duplex. It stands on the corner of Farwell and Emery (North west corner), across the street from where Addy (Adelaide) Smith llived. This was their second home in Eau Claire. Their first home was on the ground where St. Pat’s schol is now located (1951). The piano is an upright Steinway brought here by Dr. Midelfart from his home in Norway. It is now in the cottage at Chetek. The portraits on the wall are of his father and mother, Peter Albert Midelfart (1832-1896) and Nicoline Margethe Solberg Midelfart (1839-1888).”
