So, we curtailed the day today. My issue.

I think I have heat stroke. We did get out and walked a fair ways from our hotel, looking at things – street scenes, what shops are in the area, seeking tree-lined boulevards for shelter from the sun. We were nominally looking for a Metro station, but I think I hit a wall and suggested we get a ride to the nearest one instead. No Uber here, but a Russian app called Yandex GO instead; it functions identically. We are paying with cash to avoid handing over credit information to the Russian backend of things. But it’s great and we haven’t waited more than 4-5 minutes at most for a ride any time we’ve engaged it. 10 minute rides have averages about CAD$2.

So we shambled down into the subway system after our ride to it and supposed we’d just get on in any direction and see what happened. Some of the Soviet era stations are supposed to be quite lovely. We initially found ourselves heading out of the city proper and reversed course to get on a line that would take us downtown. Fortunately, the subway maps here and there in the subway cars were readable, even if only in Russian and Uzbek.

After a few subway stops of getting out to photograph the station platforms, I was quite done in. I was worried about passing out, actually. So I suggested to Harold that he continue on to our proposed next venue to see today (Centre of Plov – Uzbek national dish), but he graciously agreed to accompany me back to the hotel.

We meet our fixer in a couple of hours to go through our adjustments to his proposed schedule.

So, that’s what you get today: just subway photos.
