This bird’s life\u2026 Seems cheap, doesn’t it? I wrestle with our ability to take life from other species on this planet to feed ourselves. And yet I do it and will likely keep on doing it. This 20.25lb (!) turkey will feed at least nine people this afternoon, and quite possible inhabit sandwiches for days to come.[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb image=”http:\/\/www.hellum.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Thanksgiving-02.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.6″]It’s heart, about the size of my two thumbs put together.[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb image=”http:\/\/www.hellum.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Thanksgiving-01.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.6″]\u2026and because the preparation of the (two) stuffing(s) is a time-sensitive affair and conducted between 7am and 9am this Sunday morning, I was unable to collect my brain into its usual bone basket to take a photo of it trussed up, here it is already in the oven.[\/et_pb_blurb][et_pb_blurb image=”http:\/\/www.hellum.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Thanksgiving-06.jpg” _builder_version=”3.22.6″]And last, not least, here is the master of the house wondering just when the heck his<\/strong> portion will be doled out.[\/et_pb_blurb][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
