I road my motorcycle back from work tonight along the 401 and it was so foggy my helmet’s visor kept fogging with dew and airborne moisture. I was obliged to wipe it clear every few seconds – for an hour. Not much fun in the dark at 110 kph on a crowded highway. A bunch of fuzzy white dots to the left were on-coming cars, fuzzy red dots in front of me were vehicles in front of me. When they became brighter, I braked too, but I could almost never see why. I would (sort of) clear my visor and think, oh good, I’m still in a lane.<\/p>\n

But coming home, I was magnetized by the beauty of the fog crushing our field and house. It was rolling over our property like some giant ghost steamroller – quite in the dark and only dimly lit by the light leaking from “downtown” just a few hundred metres away.<\/p>\n

I threw myself out of the confines of my leather jacket and helmet and grabbed my camera, a flash and a flashlight and ran out into the night.<\/p>\n

Carrie came too and even went back in to pull a still-awake Owen from his bed and show him the craziness his parents get up to long after children should be asleep.<\/p>\n

Following are some pictures from tonight. The names of the kids were made by shining the flashlight directly at the camera from a little ways away and writing their names backwards in the air.<\/p>\n
