I had no idea, and I guess that’s pretty naive. But its an interesting new vantage on what I had always thought of as a desert civilization. But I think I’ve had enough of it. Its made it cold enough to remind me of the snow awaiting us back home. Blergh\u2026<\/p>\n

We spent the day primarily at the ancient fortress of Qait Bey, on the edge of the old harbour in Alexandria. Its really quite striking, not that large, and truly fortress-like. Afterwards, we stopped by Salamlek palace (two separate structures, the first a palace for a harem, the second the home of King Farouk and his father Fouad before him).<\/p>\n

Its hard to concentrate on writing anything interesting today. We are back at the Windsor Palace Hotel and the kids are watching Hellboy II on TV and its a leetle distracting\u2026 Nevertheless, here is what i shot today.
