How odd its been. Really very much like getting in an elevator in one city and then back out in another city. As Carrie put it over dinner, it felt like we were just ‘dining’ in Scarborough or something. By ‘dining’ I mean IHOP (http://www.ihop.com/). We are staying at a sort of grotty little place called Accent Inns. Room is a comp, so we certainly can’t complain, but I understand why the western publisher of the Globe gave the certificate to us suggesting he didn’t see himself staying here… As we are near the airport, there is nothing nearby to see or do…or eat. It was IHOP or nuthin’ tonight. My IHOP steak tasted like liver. Bleaugh.
The four and a half hour flight from Toronto went faster and better than we thought. We arrived tired, whichI suspect is just a relaxing of teh self after getting away from work and life in general. Currently, Carrie is flaked out in front of Little Bear on Treehouse TV (those with kids will know this cartoon), while the kids are riveted to it on either side of her. We meet Carrie’s aunt Doreen tomorrow for lunch, then kick around downtown for awhile and then meet an old friend of mine from Sherwood Park days, Perry. Haven’t seen him in over a decade. He and my other pal Harold went through grade school and then University together. I saw Harold just a week ago in Ottawa when we went for dinner (he works for the Fed there). It’ll be great to see Perry again.
Here are some picsh from today before I crash, myself:
