I had no idea, and I guess that’s pretty naive. But its an interesting new vantage on what I had always thought of as a desert civilization. But I think I’ve had enough of it. Its made it cold enough to remind me of the snow awaiting us back home. Blergh…
We spent the day primarily at the ancient fortress of Qait Bey, on the edge of the old harbour in Alexandria. Its really quite striking, not that large, and truly fortress-like. Afterwards, we stopped by Salamlek palace (two separate structures, the first a palace for a harem, the second the home of King Farouk and his father Fouad before him).
Its hard to concentrate on writing anything interesting today. We are back at the Windsor Palace Hotel and the kids are watching Hellboy II on TV and its a leetle distracting… Nevertheless, here is what i shot today. Cheers.
