I just posted some more scans from beautiful illustrations in old books. First, an sample scan of an illustration from ‘Fairy Tales from the Arabian Nights’ – Everyman Library, edited by Ernest Rhys. Published by J.M. Dent & Sons, Ltd, London, 1916 – No. 249 of the Everyman Library.
Then a scan from ‘The Arabian Nights – their best known tales’, illustrations by Maxfield Parrish.
This is then followed by an example scan from ‘Tales from the Arabian Nights’ with illustrations by A. E. Jackson. This latter book was given to me when I was 7 by my paternal grandfather on a visit to Norway with my father in 1971.
I followed your tumblr link. I covet those books of yours. Oh man! The Arthur Rackham book has an amazing illo of a baby floating away in a bird’s nest, full wind at the sail. I love that. And the Arabian nights. Wow. But I do love Rackham. And that Snorre book. FANTASTIC.
