holding- as I though about holding – the thought around the word grew wider and wider. Yes, I held you with such love when you were tiny. I held you over my heart so that you could feel the thumps that you were familiar with.
I held you as a young boy for joy-for comfort-for love.
Now I hug you and feel the same love.
As a Quaker I hold you in the light – the light of our higher spirit.
as a senior I hold memories of you as a young person – off to school for the first time; learning to read, excited as seeing santa claus who sounded so much like uncle John; as a teen ager cross country skiing with such ease and rythm. I hold these memories and feast on them.
